If you wish to focus your career on resourcing and developing researchers, students, and trainees, please apply!
Our people work to improve engineering approaches to chemical processes and the performance of materials in the laboratory as well as scaling those findings for usability in wider applications. We have more than 45 faculty members, with research expertise covering all major areas of chemical and materials engineering including process systems engineering, surface and interfacial science, thermodynamics, reaction engineering and catalysis, biochemical and biomedical engineering, energy-related materials, and welding and metallurgy. We celebrate creativity, diversity, perseverance, and a collaborative spirit and recognize the importance of academic excellence in conjunction with work/life balance, interdisciplinary research, and mentorship. The Faculty of Engineering has over 4,800 undergraduate students, and there are opportunities to engage with them outside the classroom in research laboratory work, capstone projects, and student teams, like EcoCar, Chemical Engineering Student’s Society, Materials Engineering Student Society, and Level 7 Plastics. The Department’s graduate program attracts students who are dedicated to developing in their area of expertise from schools worldwide and presently has an enrolment of around 400 graduate students, including 200 Ph.D. students.
