You are invited to join the debate at our next Cafe Scientifique session featuring Dr. Maria I.C. Gyongyossy-Issa and Dr. Gershon Growe, UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Maria is a member of UBC Centre for Blood Research. She started in Microbiology at UBC, went on to a PhD In Immunology in London, UK and was the first to describe antigen receptors on T cells. With many digressions, her work has moved from white blood cells to other blood cells: platelets.
Jerry is the Medical Consultant to Canadian Blood Services’ BC & Yukon Centre and a specialist in blood transfusion, clinical hematology and hemophilia and the ethics surrounding them. He is the director of the UBC/CBs Transfusion Residency Program.
