Job Description

Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a temporary part-time sessional instructor to teach inorganic chemistry lectures and labs. The successful candidate will replace faculty on sabbatical leave during the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters (from Sept 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025). The successful candidate will be provided with materials and resources for all lecture and lab courses so as to minimize course preparation workload.

The successful candidate will teach the following courses:

Fall 2024:

CHEM 221 – Inorganic Chemistry (lecture and lab course)
9 contact hours/week, total salary $14,737

Winter 2025:

CHEM 320 – Intermediate Inorganic Chemistry (lecture only course),
3 contact hours/week, total salary $7,105

CHEM 325 – Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory (lab only course)
3 contact hours/week, total salary $7,105

Qualifications:

Candidates should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in inorganic chemistry.  Experience teaching undergraduate lectures and labs is preferred.  We seek candidates who share our commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching in a student-centered environment. Candidates must be willing to hold both themselves and their students to high academic standards.
