Let’s start by learning a little bit about you. Can you tell us about how you made your way to Enavate?

My journey began with uncertainty, much like many young professionals. After graduating college with a degree in social work, I initially ventured into counselling but soon realized it wasn’t my calling. Embracing change, I transitioned into marketing, where I found my passion ignited. My career flourished as I honed my skills in technology and marketing, particularly within the Microsoft Dynamics space. This path eventually led me to Enavate, as I was drawn by the company’s innovative spirit and unique approach to business. A lunch meeting with Enavate’s leadership was the final bump that led me to join the team and embark on a new chapter in my career.

Were there any challenges you faced during your career?

When I reflect on my career journey, I can see that most challenges I encountered were self-imposed. In the early days, I grappled with self-doubt and the lingering fear of not being “qualified” due to lacking a traditional business degree. Over time, I overcame these barriers through professional development and self-awareness. 

I also struggled with impostor syndrome, a common occurrence among many professionals, particularly women. Through perseverance and continuous learning, I learned to navigate these challenges and emerged stronger, embracing my expertise and contributions to the field.

Could you share any tips for building meaningful professional connections?

I would say authenticity and vulnerability are the cornerstones of effective networking. And although I am not deeply involved in any social media platforms, I recognize their importance in modern networking.

However, I’d also like to emphasize the power of genuine connections, rooted in authenticity and empathy. I would also encourage professionals to be open to mentorship opportunities, both as mentees and mentors, which fosters reciprocal growth and support within the STEM community.

In your opinion, what are some effective ways women can support each other in the workplace and beyond?

I love seeing women supporting women. I have a lot of experience in mentoring and advocating for fellow female professionals. Mentorship, guidance and a supportive network can do so much to empower women throughout their careers. I’m involved in organizations such as Women in Technology, where I work to create supportive environments where women can thrive and succeed.

Empowerment is a core value at Enavate. Can you share a specific example of how you felt empowered in your role, and how this empowerment has positively impacted your career growth?

Empowerment at Enavate has been transformative. From executive sponsorship to autonomy in decision-making, I have experienced a profound sense of empowerment throughout my time there. I can see Enavate’s trust in my capabilities and leadership reflected in moments such as my involvement in strategic leadership decisions. This empowerment has not only enhanced my career growth but also fostered personal development and leadership excellence.

I have helped numerous women to pursue their ambitions and excel in their careers. I feel very proud when I see my mentees’ accomplishments and it really underscores the profound impact of mentorship and support in fostering professional growth and success.

Any last thoughts you’d like to share?

I’d like to emphasize the importance of advocating for oneself, seeking mentorship and fostering authentic connections in navigating career challenges. I hope my journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of empowerment, mentorship and self-awareness in unlocking one’s full potential.
