Being new to a country may require expanding your horizons and exploring careers in new areas. Immigrant professionals, like you, may need to learn to leverage your past experiences and apply them to new opportunities in Canada. The question is how do you sell your skills and find a job that fits your knowledge and experience?

Dr. Harish Vasudevan, Career Consultant at UBC; Vice President, Research and Commercialization at Tait Laboratories Inc.
Dr. Harish Vasudevan is a Career Consultant at UBC. He inspires graduate students with his own success story – applying his technical skills to the life sciences industry. Through workshops and one-on-one advising sessions, he coaches graduate students to leverage their experience in academia to the industry. His YouTube video featured on the UBC channel has generated over 300 views (tinyurl.com/nu7nvt5). Outside of his role at UBC, he is an active mentor of the Student Biotechnology Network, an organization that connects students with industry leaders.
With 18 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical sector, he serves as the Vice President of Research and Commercialization at Tait Laboratories Inc., a UBC-based company that develops natural health products to treat digestive and neurological diseases. He oversees the scientific, financial, marketing and intellectual property strategies. Under his leadership, a novel natural supplement was approved by Health Canada and was successfully brought to the market
Prior to coming to Canada, Harish was a Senior Chemist and Management Trainee in India, where he also completed his Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Harish received his PhD at UBC and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Drug Research and Development, Canada’s leading commercialization centre that helps advance promising drug candidates.
