The Faculty of Science at Ontario Tech University, invites applicants from qualified individuals for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. We seek a candidate with a Pd.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field who demonstrates a strong research background and potential in computer graphics, computational photography, image processing, or computer vision. candidates with research in all of these areas will be considered but preference will be given to candidates with research experience in computer graphics or computational photography. This position is subject to budgetary approval and commences on July 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of faculty members engaging in top-tier research across various areas, including Data Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Human – Computer Interaction, and Systems. Collectively, the group celebrates cross-field collaborations in a richly supportive environment. The candidate will receive ample support to maintain and enhance their active research profile in computer graphics and computer science in general.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.
The ideal candidate will be expected to develop successful and innovative externally funded research programs that support peer-reviewed publications, training of graduate students at both masters and Ph.D. levels, and academic and industry collaborations. They will also be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and contributing to curriculum development. Ontario Tech has a commitment to provide a technology-enhanced learning environment. We therefore seek candidates who are further interested in developing effective pedagogical applications of technology in Computer Science education.

The Faculty of Science offers a vibrant and dynamic academic environment with a strong track record of high impact research and innovative teaching. The Faculty offers honours undergraduate degrees in Science (Co-op) in Biological Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Integrative Neuroscience, Integrated Mathematics & Computer Science, Forensic Science, Physics, and Mathematics for Science and Industry. The Computer Science BSc (Honours) program includes specializations in Digital Media and Data Science as well as a co-op option. The Computer Science MSc and Ph.D. programs are cross-faculty and are supported by over 30 research faculty, including three Canada Research Chairs.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
