Recap of IGNITE Toronto: sparking innovation & impact

Thank you to everyone who joined us at IGNITE Toronto for an incredible evening of meaningful conversations, new connections and impactful ideas!

IGNITE Toronto was the third stop of six cities on our cross-Canada road trip. As we journey across the country – from Vancouver, to Yellowknife, to Toronto – we are continually inspired by the energy, innovation and impact that people across the STEM ecosystem ignite when we come together. As one of the panelists at IGNITE Toronto shared so beautifully:

The energy in the room was electric; diverse perspectives, meaningful conversations, and a shared passion for innovation and inclusion. Events like these remind me how powerful it is to show up, speak up, and lift others as we grow.

From seasoned professionals to rising talent, the energy in the room was electric and we’re grateful to all who made the night so impactful. This impact is reflected in the testimonials attendees shared after the event:

  • Melanie Ratnam’s opening remarks and panel session with experienced panelists were inspiring and gave me the confidence to connect during networking and in future networking sessions. I highly recommend this event to others—it’s a valuable opportunity to gain insights, skills, and inspiration for your professional journey.
  • I learned more about STEM and its reach into many many fields and sectors that I otherwise would not have thought possible.
  • SCWIST’s IGNITE: STEM Networking Night was an incredibly enriching experience! The positive energy was contagious, and the inspiring panelists offered much valuable insights. I truly appreciated the opportunity to connect with so many diverse STEM professionals and build new relationships. SCWIST creates an invaluable platform for connection and growth, and I highly recommend their events to anyone in the STEM community.

A special thank you to our amazing feature panelists:

  • Tracy A. T. Hudson, Team Leader/Principal Safety Consultant; Ricardo PLC
  • Ena Kenny, Principal, Health Sector Interior Design Lead; Stantec
  • Donovan Dill, Operations Lead, SICEEL (Sam Ibrahim Centre for Inclusive Excellence in Entrepreneurship Innovation & Leadership)

A heartfelt thank you to our feature sponsors whose generous support makes IGNITE possible: Ricardo PLC, Verdi, Wood Manufacturing Council and Anodyne Chemistries. We are grateful for their commitment to sparking innovation and impact across Canada.
