Job Description

Fleming is located in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes Region in Central Ontario…a beautiful place to live and work, surrounded by natural beauty and a mere 90 minutes north-east of Toronto. The College’s 6,000 full-time and 10,000 part-time students, including hundreds of international students, attend at campus locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Haliburton, and Cobourg. Fleming offers more than 100 full-time programs in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Fine Arts, General Arts and Science, Technology, Skilled Trades, Community Development, Health, Business, and Justice as well as other Continuing Education courses. Reporting to the EVP, Information Technology & Registrarial Services, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) will be responsible for the planning, acquisition, installation and operation of all corporate information technology systems which support academic and administrative functions of the college. They will provide leadership in areas of Information Technology strategic planning, College-wide IT Policy development in order to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders. This will see you providing forward-thinking direction and innovative insight regarding state-of-the-art use of technology, information and knowledge management strategies to address technology opportunities, issues and challenges.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee IT and telecommunications systems planning and acquisitions in line with the college’s Strategic Plan, and in developing the IT Strategic Plan.
• Craft long-term strategies for the college’s administrative and academic computing and telecommunications systems through community consultation, supporting College’s vision and mission.
• Join leadership in IT planning and decision-making; advise on IT strategies, budgeting, and capital requests.
• Establish IT-based strategic partnerships aligned with corporate and academic goals.
• Plan strategies for IT infrastructure upgrades and revenue sources, implementing cost-recovery fees and enhance partner contributions.
• Collaborate on IT strategies for online initiatives, supporting marketing, delivery, and data management objectives.
• Oversee College data governance, core administrative IT services, and Information Security Management System, ensuring robust cybersecurity measures.
• Manage the IT department’s budget, safety protocols, and staff development initiatives, setting and achieving performance targets aligned with college objectives.
• Oversee College’s Information Security Management System and cybersecurity portfolio.

What You Bring
• Post-secondary degree in computer-related disciplines, with an education/business minor.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in information technology, education, and business, preferably in leadership roles with organizational accountability.
• Extensive network in the industry, particularly in consulting and third-party vendor domains.
• Demonstrated expertise in data governance, analytics and Key Performance Indicator development
• Proficiency in IT Governance models and implementation
• Demonstrated IT Focus on the End-User
• Proficiency in strategic planning, problem-solving, budgeting, and consensus-building.
• Demonstrated expertise in fostering cohesive teams, cultivating strategic partnerships, and creating a collaborative work environment.
• Proven track record in IT service transformation, ideally in customer experience-focused sectors.
• Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate through organizational challenges and drive meaningful change.
• Technical proficiency in cutting-edge technologies, with the capability to implement transformative solutions such as AI, Live Chat, and automation.
• Proven track record of implementing ERP or multiple ERPs and integrating them.
• Experience in health technology applications would be considered assets.
