IGNITE – Halifax: Igniting Meaningful Change
On the evening of July 31, 2025, the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) proudly hosted IGNITE: STEM Networking Night – Halifax at the stunning Halifax Convention Centre.
Halifax marked the fourth stop on our cross-Canada IGNITE STEM Networking Tour, and with each city we visit, we’re reminded of the incredible diversity and uniqueness of Canada’s STEM communities. In Halifax, we had the privilege of connecting with passionate changemakers driving innovation, education, community building and growth in the region.
While every city brings its own local flair and energy, one thing remains constant: the power that is ignited when changemakers from all sectors of the STEM ecosystem come together. Across the country, we’re witnessing how creating dynamic spaces for conversation, connection and community within the STEM ecosystem fuels inspiration, sparks ideas, and creates meaningful change.

IGNITE – Halifax brought together a vibrant mix of youth, emerging professionals, and seasoned leaders from across the region’s STEM sectors. From the moment the doors opened, the room was alive with energy and a shared sense of purpose. Conversations flowed, ideas sparked, and the atmosphere buzzed with the kind of momentum that only happens when passionate people come together.
Attendees were treated to powerful lightning talks from passionate STEM professionals who shared personal stories, career journeys, and visions for the future. Their insights sparked thoughtful dialogue and added a vital perspective to our mission of cultivating community and supporting the growth of an inclusive, innovative STEM ecosystem across Canada.
