Dr. Margaret Magdesian

Dr. Margaret Magdesian, PhD, is the CEO and founder of ANANDA Devices, a Montreal-based company commercializing some of the technology she developed for faster evaluation of toxicity and efficacy of medications directly on human-derived neurons organized on a chip.

Dr Magdesian’s technology is being used by leading biopharmaceutical companies to accelerate drug development in 14 countries. She was also nominated to 25 awards in science and innovation, including the Top 10 Quebec Discovery of the Year 2016, 2017 L’Oréal Women in Digital, 2018 SheEO in Canada, and 2019 Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards, 2020 Bayer Innovation. Dr Magdesian is an INSEAD fellow for entrepreneurship and she also dedicates her time to support scientific entrepreneurship and innovation. She is a judge and mentor of the Cartier Pioneer Science Entrepreneurship Award and the Vice-President of the Society of Toxicology of Canada.

Dr. Margaret Magdesian, Ph.D., est la PDG et fondatrice d’ANANDA Devices, une entreprise basée à Montréal qui commercialise une partie de la technologie qu’elle a développée. Cette méthode innovante permet une évaluation plus rapide de la toxicité et de l’efficacité des médicaments directement testés sur des neurones dérivés de l’homme organisés sur une puce.

La technologie du Dr. Magdesian est utilisée au niveau international (dans 14 pays) par de grandes entreprises biopharmaceutiques ayant pour but d’accélérer le développement de médicaments. Dr. Magdesian a par ailleurs été nominée pour 25 prix en science et innovation, notamment la Découverte de l’Année au Québec en 2016, le Prix L’Oréal Women in Digital en 2017, le Prix SheEO au Canada en 2018, le Prix Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards en 2019, ainsi que le Prix Bayer Innovation en 2020. Elle est également membre du corps professoral de l’INSEAD en entrepreneuriat et consacre son temps à soutenir l’entrepreneuriat scientifique et l’innovation. Elle est juge et mentore pour le Prix Cartier Pioneer Science Entrepreneurship Award et vice-présidente de la Société de Toxicologie du Canada.
