Quantum Leaps
Welcome to Quantum Leaps—a dynamic initiative designed for high school students who are passionate about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This program pairs you with experienced female* mentors from various STEM fields, closely aligning with your interests to help you explore diverse career paths, develop essential skills, and bring your innovative ideas to life.
Our mission is to help you to gain confidence in your abilities and envision your future in STEM. With guidance and support from your mentor and SCWIST, you will have the opportunity to develop a STEM project and turn your vision into reality.
The program offers leadership and ideation workshops designed to spark creativity and provide structure for your project development. You’ll engage in asynchronous communication with your mentor, supplemented by three live sessions. In addition to project work, your discussions will cover topics such as life after high school, financial planning, and work-life balance. Lastly, you’ll also have the chance to apply for SCWIST funding to support your project idea.
Running from October 2024 to May 2025, Quantum Leaps requires a weekly commitment of approximately 1.5 hours for project work, in addition to the workshops and mentor check-ins.
It is important to note that eMentoring is about guidance, career options, and life in the STEM fields. It is not parenting, counselling or tutoring. Participants are expected to contribute regularly, with thoughtful conversations.
The program is available for any students who are currently in high-school.
This year’s round of Quantum Leaps will run from October 2024 to May 2025.
Applications for Quantum Leaps are now open. Application deadline is Tuesday, October 15th 2024.
