Allies in Action: Engaging Men and Boys for Safe STEM Workplaces
SCWIST, in partnership with NextGenMen, invites participants to join Allies in Action: Engaging Men and Boys for Safer STEM Workplaces, a full-day, in-person workshop in Toronto designed to mobilize men, boys, and gender-diverse participants as active allies in preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) in STEM.
While this workshop is specifically designed to engage men, boys, and gender-diverse participants in allyship and culture change, participation is open to individuals of all genders who are committed to advancing safer and more inclusive STEM environments.
This highly interactive session builds on SCWIST’s national GBV prevention work and focuses on the critical role allies play in creating respectful, accountable workplaces and learning environments. Participants will move beyond awareness to action — gaining practical skills, tools, and confidence to lead change within their own organizations and communities.
What to Expect
Deepen Understanding of GBV in STEM
Explore how harassment, discrimination, and exclusion show up across STEM sectors and examine the shared responsibility to address them.
Build Practical Allyship Skills
Engage in guided discussions, real-world scenarios, and peer learning to develop strategies for challenging harmful norms, intervening safely, and fostering cultures of respect and accountability.
Strengthen Networks for Ongoing Impact
Connect with peers committed to advancing equity and inclusion, and leave with concrete next steps to sustain allyship efforts beyond the workshop.
By the end of the day, participants will leave equipped not only with knowledge, but with clear, actionable strategies to contribute meaningfully to safer STEM workplaces in Toronto and beyond.
