Volunteer & Staff Appreciation Event [Event Recap]

The Volunteer & Staff Appreciation Event on June 21st was a great suc-cess – the weather gods smiled on us and we had an exquisitely sunny day for a picnic in Stanley Park. Volunteers, staff, SCWIST directors dropped by from 10:30am-2:00pm.

The food was marvelous picnic food that even the children readily gobbled up, and we did not have much left at the end. There was just something about warm sun, a park, and eating a picnic lunch.

For the little ones, the nearby playground beckoned, and so they en-tertained themselves on the jungle gym for hours. The rest of us had lively conversations ranging from travel to networking to self-defense techniques, self-defense training for women and how it increases self-confidence, among other topics. Those of us on the events committee even brainstormed for ideas for next year’s events, and we came up with some good ones. Stay tuned!
