Job Scope:

The Genomics Education for Health Professionals (GEHP), Project Manager is a collaborative member of Genome BC and will work seamlessly across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Communications & Societal Engagement you will work closely with content experts internally and externally to build capacity and increase genomic application and uptake amongst health care professionals in BC.

Utilizing Genome BC’s GEHP Framework, you are responsible for pre-launch work including partner re-engagement, launching, developing and coordinating activities on all projects under the GEHP Innovation initiative. Initially this includes three exemplar projects with a focus on education definition, design, implementation and assessment. Working with content experts you will lead all facets of project coordination and management and have demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with a wide array of experts to produce quality programs.

In the longer term you will use the experiences gained with the GEHP project to develop, launch and manage other projects as part of Genome BC’s innovation strategy and capacity building for the uptake of genomics in the BC ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Launch, monitor and coordinate all GEHP projects supported by Genome BC to ensure milestones and deliverables are reached
• Finalize projects’ scope and launch new projects by facilitating project start-up activities, including finalization of project budgets, work plans and milestones and coordinate the process to close out projects after completion
• Leverage the subject matter expertise of content experts internally and externally for the benefit of the projects
• Pro-actively engage other Genome BC team members to ensure all milestones and deliverables are completed on time and on budget and inform Genome BC of any challenges and bring forward tangible solutions
• Foster relationships, facilitate meetings, and communicate effectively with project teams, the lead institutions and other partners, in particular private sector companies leading the projects
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, committees and activities as required
• Facilitate the planning, delivery and completion of workshops with relevant stakeholders to inform GEHP framework and strategy development
• Support key Genome BC projects with GEHP educational components
• Work collaboratively across Genome BC to ensure successful delivery of objectives
• Present findings and milestones to Genome BC Executive and staff and stakeholders as required

Candidate Profile:

The Genomics Education for Health Professionals, Project Manager will have strong oversight skills demonstrating breadth of abilities and knowledge and a proven track record of working in integrated, multi-disciplinary environments and communicating with diverse stakeholders. The selected candidate will have strong organizational and administrative skills to complement their demonstrated project management skills. Knowledge of ecosystem: academic curriculum development, continuing professional development and project design and implementation in a digital space and subject matter interest would be an asset, but is not required.

Ideal candidate will have the following:

• Demonstrated project management experience and know how, including experience with milestone-driven project; PMP certification or equivalent an asset
• Ability to identify and assess objective, quantifiable measures of success
• Experience in the BC life sciences research and innovation community
• Excellent communication, relationship management and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated organizational, financial management skills and careful record keeping practices, preferably in a science or technology environment
• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines
• Ability to think broadly and understand strategic priorities
• Ability to work with diverse systems to effect change
• Experience in delivering effective and compelling presentations, moderating and collaboration
• Demonstrated expertise in the facilitation and development of interdisciplinary teams or projects
• Ability to think critically and creatively and question status quo
• Strong written and oral communications skills for academic and non-academic audiences
• Proven experience in strategic development and its translation and uptake
