The Product Manager, Insurance will direct product development from conception to launch and is responsible for discovering, developing and carefully cultivating new products and on-going product enhancements that support Geotab’s business models and continued growth in the insurance & risk management industry.

What you’ll do:

The Product Manager, Insurance will ultimately build Geotab’s customer intelligence by identifying which ideas and opportunities should be promoted into features to support pushing the product strategy forward. For success in this role, reliable problem solving skills, creativity, communication and acute perception are invaluable skills.

The industry specific expertise of the ideal candidate possesses an understanding of any & all areas including insurance telematics (insurtech), risk management, video, safety & claims products. Collaboration will be across insurance companies, brokers, claims and customer fleet organizations in delivering underwriting data and claim supportive solutions.

How you’ll make an impact:
The primary role is to truly understand the insurance & risk management market and Geotab’s customers needs (both fleet & insurance customers) to be able to solve their problems.
Perform customer discovery interviews with prospective & existing customers and partners to identify product gaps and generate news ideas for continuous value add for existing customers, grow market share for new customers & overall improve Geotab’s customer experience.
Leverage various research methodologies and customer inputs to identify common. patterns, pain points, problems to be solved/jobs to be done and use this to identify relevant solution opportunities/product efforts.
Support Resellers, Sales, Success & Sales teams in capturing insights from existing customers.
Prioritize building what matters most by balancing short term sales targets with long term strategic investments for the business.
Collaboratively define and drive reporting and monitoring mechanisms against set product outcomes and use them as a tool to measure continued success of product efforts (both qualitative and quantitative).
Collaborate with other product managers on designing and executing market feedback loops and incorporate into product planning: sales: participate in win-loss interviews and analysis; identify hard sales blockers and soft sales objections; Retention and Referral: feedback/satisfaction/effectiveness interviews and analysis.
Clearly communicate the Why for every product effort and educate other stakeholders on the problems to be solved, business objectives, etc. Leverage this in collaboration with UX designers, developers and other stakeholders to do: Problem & solution validation; Translate the customer needs into user stories, feature epics and work to be done to bring the product effort to life; Prioritize epics relative to technical debt and other company product investments.
Collect and analyze feedback from customers, stakeholders and internal teams to continuously make improvements to products that are launched.
Focus on the end to end customer journey as part of product planning from the first interaction through to support & post sales activities.

What you’ll bring to this role:
Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree is required; specialization in Engineering, Business, Computer Science or a related field highly valued.
5+ years experience working experience; prior product management experience or experience in a product related role is required.
Experience in a SaaS environment is highly valued. Prior experience in insurance telematics is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills: good listener, empathetic and enjoy interacting with customers; ability to stitch together disparate insights to uncover common patterns; strong presentation skills (in person and virtually) and ability to deliver training effectively.
Self starter, resourceful with strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
Strategic mindset, with a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
Strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
Well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
Must stay relevant to technology and should have the flexibility to adapt to the growing technology and market demands.
Experience with reporting or business analysis.
High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills to be able to manage products through discovery to launch and continuous review.
Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
Experience leveraging customer success tools (i.e., Salesforce) an asset.
