Job Description
The Department of Computer Science at Western University invites applications for a Teaching Scholar Position.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date of the appointment is July 1, 2025, or as negotiated. This probationary appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor with a workload of 60% teaching, 20% scholarship and 20% service. The teaching duties will include up to six one-semester courses per year.
The successful candidate will hold either (a) a PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline or (b) a PhD in Education and a degree in Computer Science or related discipline. The successful candidate will have a superior record of teaching in Computer Science or a related relevant area and have a teaching philosophy that demonstrates plans and approaches for future teaching innovation.
Additionally, the successful candidate will have a track record of research, with a preference for research or scholarship experience in the areas of teaching and learning. The candidate must demonstrate a plan for engaging in scholarship activities, which broaden the scope of their educational responsibilities, and to share this expertise with colleagues in Computer Science.

The Department of Computer Science (www.csd.uwo.ca) has research strengths in algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning, bioinformatics, computational neuroscience, distributed systems, networking, software engineering and theoretical computer science. The Department has strong ties to industry and strongly encourages and supports participation in interdisciplinary research. Recent investment through a partnership between Bell Canada and Western will see the creation of an advanced 5G research centre that will enable Western to become a “living lab” for shaping smart cities and communication systems. The Department is a contributor to a collaborative Master’s program in Artificial Intelligence (with Electrical and Computer Engineering), an undergraduate data science program and a professional Master’s program in data analytics (with Statistical and Actuarial Sciences). Research is supported by the SHARCNET high performance computing facilities.
