Job Description

The Saint Mary’s University Department of Mathematics and Computing Science invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computing Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. The earliest start date will be January 1st, 2023. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Computing Science. In alignment with the University’s Strategic Research Plan, preference will be given to those with a demonstrated ability to work within interdisciplinary networks. Although applicants with expertise in any area of Computing
Science are welcome, preference will be given to those with expertise in software engineering, data science, cloud computing, and cyber security. The successful candidate will provide evidence indicating an ability to develop and maintain an innovative, externally funded research program, including the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and will be expected to play an active role in the administration of the Department, the Faculty of Science, and the University.

The Department offers Majors and Honours undergraduate programs in Computing Science which are accredited by the Computer Science Accreditation Council of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS). Undergraduate students are actively involved in faculty research. Graduate students are enrolled in the M.Sc. or Ph.D. Applied Science programs or in the M.Sc. program in Computing and Data Analytics.
