Spring is (almost) here and I’m so excited that the next eMentoring session is right around the corner! The Spring 2014 session will be starting on April 6 and I already have a long waitlist of young women who would like to participate. The program has continued to grow each session and I consistently get many more applications than I have mentors for. So, I will be accepting mentor volunteer applications until April 1st. For an application package and more information about the program, please contact me! Mentors can be anywhere in Canada – the entire program is done online!
In February, ms infinity was invited to provide a workshop to the 5th Hyde Creek Brownies in Port Coquitlam. We had a great time playing with Glo Germ and guiding the girls in designing an experiment to find out what was the most important factor in hand washing – water temperature, time spent, or soap/no soap. The results were inconclusive, but we did find out that residual mustard from dinner glows bright yellow under a blacklight! Thanks Hyde Creek Brownies for having us out!
I had the opportunity to attend the BC Science Outreach Workshop at Science World recently and am very much looking forward to building on the connections that were made. There are already plans in the works for new events and collaborations. Also coming up is our annual event with Big Sisters – Science Day at UBC, and hopefully a new blog project from an amazing student!
