Dr. Francis’s
research involves understanding the mechanisms that stimulate
the formation of high density lipoproteins (HDL), the “good cholesterols”. He will
discuss his research that has implication in developing therapies that prevent and
treat cardiovascular diseases.
Professor Humphries
will discuss the early detection and treatment of heart
diseases with a focus on improving the outcome and incidence rates in young
women and women of lower socio-economic status. She will present evidence indicating that women with heart diseases have poorer treatment outcomes and
higher mortality, compared to men.
